The River Thames is almost as famous as London itself. Winding its way through the heart of the city, it draws in locals and...
If you're going to be sashaying around London, taking in the sights and soaking up the hustle and bustle, you better look good while you are doing it. Luckily, London is the perfect place to do some personal polishing: the city is packed with stylists to pick out the perfect outfit, chefs to help develop your paletter, salons to buff you until you shine and bars to fuel you as you go.
Sort your style at Topshop
Head straight to your nearest Topshop or Topman location with a group of your best friends for a session with a highly qualified personal stylist. You’ll find out what colour suits you best, how you can dress to feel fantastically confident, and what your wardrobe could do without. Pick up some accessories and some skin care products on your way out, and make a beeline for a well-deserved brunch.
No holds barred food for the soul: Lunch at Shackfuyu
The Bone Daddies family begun with a ramen bar, but since then Old Compton Street has been graced with the mesmerising menus at Shackfuyu. Serving western inspired Japanese dishes – otherwise known Yōshoku – it is, in the founder’s own words, “no holds barred food for the soul.” Salty, sour and extremely sticky; you’ll have to fight to step away from the savoury offerings to keep room for the famous deserts. And with your appetite finally sated, you’ll have an equally hard job leaving the cosy embrace of Shackfuyu’s gently-lit booths.
Bubbly and blow dries at Salon 64
But fear not – open fires, heated floors and further indulgences of a different kind are just around the corner. Step out of Shackfuyu onto Old Compton Street and you’re only minutes from the hotly-anticipated new Salon 64; a hop, skip and a jump away on Bateman Street. You’ll need to book in advance for one of the highly sought-after appointments (massage, manicures, hair care and makeup are all on the cards), but once you get there it’s clear what the fuss is all about. Stash your jewellery in your personal suede-box, plug your phone in to re-charge, help yourself to a glass of champagne and let the grooming begin.
Dinner, drinks and dancing chez Foundation Bar
Stretch your legs after refuelling in one of Salon 64’s reclining chairs and take a leisurely ramble to Covent Garden, where cocktails and vibrant flavours await you at Foundation Bar. Pizzas, sandwiches and all kinds of sharing platters make this a great option for visiting with a sprawling group of friends, and after a long day of nipping from venue to venue you can relax: Foundation has a dance floor too.
